For more than thirty years, D. Richon has designed many experimental devices for measuring thermodynamic and transport properties. The covered pressure range goes from 0 to 100 MPa and the temperature range from 200 to + 600 °C. Many types of products can be studied: viscous, toxic, corrosive, etc. The studied quantities include: "vapor-liquid", "liquid-liquid", "vapour-liquid-liquid", "solid-liquid" phase equilibria etc, volumetric and transport properties (viscosity and rheology), absorption kinetics, activity coefficients and Henry's constants, surface tensions under pressure, etc.

Among the published patents, one of them is particularly useful. It concerns the ROLSI ™ (Rapid One Line Sampling Injector) who is an extremely good tool to take samples, of very small sizes, under very high temperatures and very high pressures.

The produced experimental devices have been and are of interest for various industries: oil and gas, pharmaceutical, chemical, industrial gases, refrigeration, etc, etc.

The ongoing activity in the field of hydrocarbons was rewarded by the prestigious "Katz Award" delivered in 2001 by the "Gas Processors Association", Tulsa, Ok, USA. See:
